We've just received a couple of submissions! Here's Puspita who came personally to install her sculptural works. After some deliberation about the available spaces, we finally had them installed in the kitchen, amongst other Mi Casa Su Casa creatures! In a recent trip to Hong Kong, we've met a couple of local artists who incorporate art into their lifestyles. Coincidentally, a local artist, Ng Ka Chun (Hei), had organised an exhibition called '我爱我家' or 'I Love My Home' while we were there, and instinctively, we knew we had to invite him to contribute to Mi Casa Su Casa without delay! This is an object piece which we collected from Hei at the Kam Sheung Road MTR Station. He will be holding 2 workshop sessions on 21s and 28th July on making your own wooden spoons from scratch. Please sign up with him if you're in Hong Kong! The fed ex post had this package delivered before I returned. It's from Alex Thebez who is currently residing in US! This came along with some hand written instructions on how to mount his works, as well as some self published zines, which will be displayed for viewing during the show.
We've got another parcel due for collection. Can't wait for Monday to do so! Thanks guys for being punctual! It has made our day! FREE ADMISSION, 11th August 7.30pm: The Devil and Daniel Johnston is a 2005 documentary film about the noted American artist Daniel Johnston. It chronicles Johnston's life from childhood up to the present, with an emphasis on his experiences with bipolar disorder, and how it manifested itself in demonic self-obsession. Watch Trailer here and see you! Make marbled paper by forming patterns on liquid and create monoprints!
Yang Xiuting will share her experience with conducting a similar Paper Marbling workshop as a volunteer, that took place at the Borong-Polok Handmade Paper Unit. The Argali Paper used as the base material in this workshop is brought back from this handmade paper unit based in Sikkim, India. Sign up by 7th August! Every sound has a form,
We invite you to discover these forms for yourselves. Translations isn’t meant to be a performance for a passive audience. Instead, the live electronic improvisations are intended to be a catalyst for creation. We invite you to listen and translate the sounds you hear onto paper. Basic drawing/writing materials provided. We also encourage you to bring your own preferred drawing/writing tools. Register by 10 August 2013! Guess who came by Mi Casa Su Casa for a practice session, and submit their poster for one of the fringe events? It's Jun & Zeek, the guys behind TRANSLATIONS!
They will be conducting a Sound Drawing session, TRANSLATIONS, on 16 August at 7.30pm. Registration open now! Look out for Jun & Zeek who will perform As It Happens, an audio visual piece at the Lit Up Indie Arts Festival on 19 July at the Aliwal Arts Centre Courtyard at 7.45pm. Keep a lookout for Ujikaji, a label and distro of eclectic sounds from Southeast Asia. They will display a selection of their mail order catalogue for perusal and purchase during the launch party!
Here's our tentative schedule for the fringe activities that will take place in the duration of Mi Casa Su Casa show! This is not the confirmed schedule so please stay tuned for further updates!
